On the coming Chinese Valentine's Day, how are you going to show your love to your girlfriend or boyfriend? Cards and bouquets of roses are traditional favorites, but they're far from original.Try something simple and free instead: Speak words of love to your lover's left ear.
Most people know that right side of the brain, wich is responsible for emotions, controls the left ear. Despite this, it was assumed for a long time that hearing was a collective sense handled equally by both ears. Researchers have now found that our left ear remembers emotional words such as love, like, and happy better than our right.
This research also may explain other observations. For example, most mothers cradle their babies to their left shoulder. This was initially thought to be because the baby could hear the mother's heartbeat and be comforted by it. However, it may actually be because the mother's and baby's left ear are closest to each other in this position. Words of love are heard by the baby's left ear, while the mother's hears the child's sounds of happiness.
This Chinese Valentine's Day, if you want an affectionate reaction from your girlfriend or boyfriend, choose your words of love carefully. Then follow the directions of Cupid in a lab coat and whisper to the left.
